Henrik Vibskov’s Spring/Summer 2010
Henrik Vibskov’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection reinforces the Danish designer’s commitment to zany, compelling imagery.

Vibskov — also a touring drummer and accomplished artist — has dressed M.I.A, Björk, and psychedelic rockers The Arctic Monkeys, all patron saints of their own creative worlds. The bizarrely titled “Solar Donkey Experiment,” featuring the four-legged namesake as accessory, lures you into another of Vibskov’s trademark fantastical realms.

With the ease of a storyteller, Vibskov conjures an irresistibly hypnotic vision. Loose, draping fabrics and face-obscuring topknots anchored with chopsticks summon thoughts of samurai and cherry blossoms, and it seems Vibskov’s been playing pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey with his models. Hip-adorning pleats give delicate structure to the soft, billowing silhouettes. Bright, kaleidoscopic patterns paired with neutral tones impart pleasing serenity to an edgy collection.
