Don’t be fooled by Dragonette’s online merchandise shop. Sure, they may be selling knock-off Dragonette-inscribed LV and Dior scarves for only $10 American, but the band does have some taste. Since their debut album, Galore, Dragonette has been really “getting around;” lead singer Martina Sorbara has since collaborated with Martin Solveig for “Boys and Girls,” which was filmed inside Jean Paul Gaultier’s Paris studio.

With its recent, star-studded opening on November 22, the Museum of Modern Art in New York is now showing a Tim Burton exhibition. A tribute to Burton’s extensive life work, the exhibit features childhood sketches, paintings, storyboards, puppets, and costumes, as well as other completed and non-completed projects, and screenings of his major movies.

The high street finally made its way to Vancouver last week with Manchester’s edgy brand Bench. The street-fashion retailer opened its first store in Western Canada on Thursday, and The Block was there to celebrate. Free-flowing wine, mini-burgers, and tiny boxes of delectable mac ‘n cheese didn’t stop us from hitting the till with an armload of statement-making styles.

Space, the final frontier. Okay, maybe not the final frontier, but this travelling exhibition is pretty galactic. Eero Saarinen: Shaping the Future is currently on display at The Museum of the City of New York. The retrospect not only features photographs of Saarinen’s most famous architectures, but still models, films, and furniture designs, like the “tulip” chair – yes, the same white modern chairs featured on the Enterprise in the 1960s Star Trek series – will also be on display.

Until we heard Tomorrow, In A Year, an opera about Darwin staged by Hotel Pro Forma, we were pretty sure that the phantom of the opera had evaporated into a cloud of White Shoulders (or whatever perfume your grandma wears to the opera).

If you’ve ever missed spending afterschool hours playing Atari arcade games, 55DSL’s newest project will help fill that void. Though 55DSL may be a bit young to have lived through the days of Pong and Space Invaders (the label is celebrating its 15th anniversary), it’s re-popularizing the coolness of pixelated art with its collection “Try Me At Home” – a series of geometrically printed white t-shirts that come packaged with four coloured markers. The concept is similar to Paint-By-Numbers, with the exception that these grids are unmarked, giving you complete freedom to ink your tees as desired.
